I have been teaching art for many years. First with the City of Ottawa and then for the Kanata Art Club. What I love about an art club is that it does not just offer classes. It provides a workspace for it's members, when the classes are not booked. It has a large classroom with big windows. A kitchenette for cleaning up and making a tea or coffee. There are always cookies and cream, which is an added bonus. It is a nice space for making art and to be part of a small supportive community. For a small membership fee it offers many benefits.

The KAC has a core of very good instructors, who offer classes in watercolour, oil and acrylic painting for all levels. It is a perfect place to start for adults who want to begin their art journey. The class sizes are small and friendly.
It also offers workshops throughout the year with well know national and international artists. Some are for beginners and some for more advanced students. Classes are offered online as well as in person.
There is figure drawing on weekends and and there is also a urban sketching group, who get together for paint outs. The club also has a wonderful Christmas show and sale for it's members every year.
“The Kanata Art Club was created to inspire and support member artists at all levels, by expanding their artistic knowledge and skills.” It is not just a place to take classes, but is a great place to make new friends and learn something new.
