What does it mean to be Bhat Boy?
It was always one of my career ambitions to become a brand name, even when I was at Art College. Then one day, it just happened to me, I became Bhat Boy. But who was I really? I wanted to make sure the answer was that I really was Bhat Boy. So I went about changing my name, which is surprisingly easy for those of you who might be curious.
Once I had my new name I still had some wrinkles to iron out, passport, drivers license, and the devil is always in the details. With my new name came a signature, and that was where I had my first problem. I draw a bat in a circle for my signature, which seemed perfectly reasonable to me, but those that issue drivers licenses thought differently. They had a rule that you had to sign first name first and last name last. My license was held up for months, while once a week someone from the Government of Ontario would call me up and try to convince me to change my mind. I finally got around it by suggesting that they were trying to persuade me to forge my signature on a legal document, and so they relented.
Really that is what being Bhat Boy is about, it is about living outside the box. We don’t all fit inside everyone else’s tidy cubby holes, sometimes we need a new niche. I like not fitting in the boxes, we can’t all be the right shape of triangle, that is what makes the world such an exciting and dynamic place. Bhat Boy
