Do you Haiku? | Amelia Ah You
I recently attended The Real Art of Writing Haiku workshop with poet and publisher Claudia Radmore.
It sure was a jam packed and so fun! Besides learning about the origin, the do's and don't's of Haiku poetry writing, the packed room of eager students also got to write their own poem, icognito. Claudia then picked some out of the basket and shared them with the class. Here are some samples of 8 poems I copied from the whiteboard. Unedited.
mossy paths
dew showers
all old friends
fresh snow
rabbit’s prints
fox has followed
one breath
senses words on the page
sometimes obstreperous
embers
woodsmoke
deep slow breaths
limb snaps
wings spread wide
freedom
water over rock
spray fractured by light
gulls cry
sun warms
frost on grass
long shadows
cool still air
last light
between bare branches
Beautiful, right? To take a step further, may I suggest printing out the poems and then cut them up line by line, then mix them up to create your own haiku! Claudia is an excellent teacher.
