Katherine McNenly

Katherine was originally from Northern Ontario.  Her art education began at York University in Toronto, where she received her BFA in 1986. She pursued a more formal, classical education with the British expat portrait artist, John Angel and later attended the Atelier Cecil-Graves in Florence, Italy. She has also attended workshops with the American realist, Michael Grimaldi, in New York City at the Grand Central Academy.

Katherine was a finalist in the Kingston Portrait Prize in 2007 and 2013. She was also a finalist receiving an Award of Honour in the Portrait Society of America’s International Portrait Competition in Philadelphia in 2012 and also a finalist and recipient of a Certificate of Excellence in their International Competition in Atlanta in 2015. She has been published in the International Artist Magazine and is an active member of the Ottawa Art Scene where she has had numerous solo and group shows. She is involved as an instructor with the city of Ottawa, where she teaches traditional painting techniques and is represented by the Cube Gallery, Ottawa, and the General Fine Craft in Almonte.

Katherine currently works and resides in the town of Almonte.
