Consistency, boredom, reset | Maria Moldovan
Being a multidisciplinary artist consistency has been a challenge in my artistic approach. I am so grateful for the feedback I get so often from my viewers, stating that they clearly recognize my world in all the artwork I present, three dimensional and bi dimensional as well. This magic of consistency happened when I stopped trying too hard having a style and when I was able to connect with a cathartic flow of the creative process.
The variety of mediums is always giving me the endless possibility for adventure and joy but even this way sometimes a certain feeling of unease would nestle in. Some strange boredom. When consistency all of a sudden seams to be a frame, a safe crane that holds everything together.
Traveling and taking a short brake is my sure remedy in times like this. Usually a new inspiration will find me and help to reset my creative world. Something that is very different from my artistic process, but captures my interest for some reason.
I had the chance this year to travel to Boston and visit the Museum of Fine Arts there. So many things stayed with me and keep brewing ever since than. A few are these paintings from the early 19th century. The light and shadow contrast, the skin, the hands and overall a strong human presence which kept me captive. Maria Moldovan
