The Pathway of Kaija Savinainen

Kaija Savinainen is undeniably one of the most passionate and captivating artists I have ever met. From the moment you engage Kaija, it becomes abundantly clear that not a minute of her day goes by without her immersing herself in the wonders of the natural world, constantly absorbing its beauty, dreaming of its limitless possibilities, and appreciating every intricate detail. Her dedication to embracing the raw power of nature is truly awe-inspiring.

One characteristic that sets Kaija apart, and allows her to create such profound works of art, is her ability to tap into her visceral emotions. Visceral feelings, as defined, are those deep-rooted sensations that are difficult to control or ignore, and arise purely from the depths of our being. It is this unique capability that enables Kaija to portray her experiences with nature on canvas with astonishing authenticity.

However, it is not only Kaija's artistic talent that captivates those who encounter her work; her personal story is equally extraordinary: “…of escape from the oppression of Stalin in the 1920’s, the post WW2 handover of Finnish resistors to be sent to Soviet gulags and ultimately the family’s  escape to Sweden,  and then ultimately to Canada – a place to start over.”

You can read more about Kaija and her journey on her website. You can visit her galleries there with paintings ranging from the breathtaking landscapes of Algonquin to the captivating scenery of Yellowknife. Her paintings not only convey the grandeur of nature but also the intimate connections she has with it. And she also shares her love of horses, cats and birds, lovingly capturing each of their characters.

You may also want to sign up to receive her monthly newsletter. Her essays are insightful, interesting and often share upcoming events.

In the realm of art, few individuals possess the same level of passion, talent, and resilience that Kaija Savinainen brings to the canvas. Her unwavering dedication transcends mere visual interpretation.
