Abstracted Skies | Lily Swain | Artist | The Ten Collective
Ontario is a wild and wonderful part of Canada. It's not for the faint of heart with its long cold winters and relentlessly hot, fleeting summers. There are so many things about the West Coast I miss, but a perfect Ontario summer night on the water is hard to beat.
Time seems to slow down or at least not matter when you're looking up at the sky beyond your wildest dreams. Worries drift away, anxieties temporarily cease with a sense of perspective, stillness, and peace.
A serene wave of inspiration washes over me as I am enveloped by this awe-inspiring beauty. A subtle gradation of blue intersected with brushes of soft pink. Geometric lines are juxtaposed against dusty clouds while a dark landscape anchors the composition.
Our boat cuts through the water creating a symmetrical wake, my eyes follow it into the distance. I'm called back to reality by my son squirming in his uncomfortable little life jacket. He's tired and we still have to drive home. I savour this moment on the water where my mind wanders, if only briefly to get lost in abstracted skies
