”Passage” | Maria Moldovan
Being invited as a guest artist to the Ten Collective exhibition in 2020 is such a privilege for me.
Ceramics and painting have been fluctuating throughout my life for a very long time. Clay gained the main role lately somehow, but colours always have a strong presence on my fired surfaces as well. Ceramics is rooted in earth and fire, and I feel that painting is so deeply connected to air and water. Clay and canvas - motion and mediation - pulse and silence. They met each other in my studio, in my heart, under my hands. They fuse into each other, constantly influence each other.
My colour palette crawls from my brushes onto the clay surfaces and my fantastic creatures, they step like curious guests into my two dimensional, illustrated spaces. There is always a passage from one dimension to the other. From one medium to another. The medium can be different but I don't like to divide myself into ceramic artist and painter. The nourishing spring of my big rivers and flows is the same. I am a visual artist who learned to express through clay and canvas as well.
